Hong Kong Spacing

Living in Hong Kong, we are loss of agency.

Lau Ming-wai, the second generation of the rich also the vice-chairperson of the Youth

Development Commission, suggests people take fewer vacations to Japan in order to

buy a flat (as cited in Young Post, South China Morning Post). His speech offended lots

of workers that it is indeed nearly impossible to take place in Hong Kong. In fact, the

situation indicates a long-lasting problem, land shortage. When we want to form a

family, we cannot afford the expensive flat price; when we are sick, we are not easy to

reserve a bed in the public hospital; even when we are dead, our family will hardly find

a place in the columbaria. We are always limited by the surrounding environment.

What should we do to face the issue?

The project setting is based on a world of after death. Soul, the mental spirit of a

human, is believed to be the symbol of freedom. It has no bounds to the time, space

and geographical. In the project, an animation about the interaction between various

souls will be shown to bring out the message that even people are dead, they still

facing limitation in the world of after death. Thus, as we are alive, we should use our

force to change it. We have our unique value in the society.
